World of Warships is hosting another online discussion with USS Hornet docent and historian Chuck Myers. The topic this time is the Battle of Midway!
The last online discussion between Chuck and World of Warships was a big hit-so you won’t want to miss this one!
The Battle of Midway was the true turning point in the Pacific War in World War II as well as one of the greatest victories in the history of the United States Navy. Aided by superb code-breaking, our skilled & courageous pilots, sailors and marines (and of course lady luck), the Japanese fleet was thoroughly defeated and their expansion halted, shifting the initiative for the war back to the Allies where it stayed for the rest of the war.
Our museum is the USS Hornet (CV-12), named in honor of the USS Hornet (CV-8), that participated in the Doolittle Raid and the Battle of Midway before being sunk at the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands. As such, we strive to maintain the honor and history of all of the eight Navy ships named Hornet.
