Veterans Day Ceremony & Special Exhibit 2021

The USS Hornet will conduct a ceremony thanking our Veterans on Veterans Day. We will also have a special exhibit created by the Walking Ghosts of Black History featuring the biographies of prominent African-American female firsts in America’s military and a special tribute to the former Secretary of State Colin Powell (including an honor guard). Exhibition open all day.

The ceremony will start promptly at 11 AM in the Hangar Bay. Veterans will be allowed onto the ship for free.

10:30 AM: Special Guests arrive (latest)
11:00 AM:
-Ceremony Starts-MC starts proceeding
-MC Welcomes guests
-MC calls the Color Guard to present the colors
-National Anthem played
-Prayer by Chaplain
11:15 AM: 
-Welcome from Alameda Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft
-Chairman of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors Richard Valle gives proclamation to USS Hornet CEO Mark Epperson
11:30:
-Commander of the USCG District Eleven, at USCG Island Base Alameda, CA Rear Admiral Brian Penoyer gives speech
11:50:
-MC calls the Color Guard to retire the colors
-MC calls for the wreath to be carried to the fantail
-MC directs crowd to the fantail
-Chaplain closing prayer
-Taps played
-Wreath tosses
-Proceedings completed
12:00:
-All guests free to explore ship
