Please join the USS Hornet as we celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the Hornet’s role in the recovery of the astronauts when they splashed back down on Earth! Come by to learn about the most important historical achievement of the 20th century and have fun with your whole family.

So far we have the following lined up for this day:

• We will be hosting a High School Robotics contest on the flight deck. Come see teams compete with their robots! This will be run by FIRST.
• In the Hangar Bays we will have:
  • Several extra space themed exhibits (Model Rocket Display, Travelling Space Exhibit of touch objects from various space programs, new replica Apollo spacesuit, etc.)
  • Our friends form the local Star Wars clubs
  • Hornet crewmen who were on board during the Apollo recoveries
  • NASA Solar System Ambassador
  • Schultz Museum Outreach table (Snoopy was a proud mascot of Apollo!)
  • ASTRA Outreach Table

We are bringing together a line up of interesting speakers-stay tuned on that front.
