NOW HEAR THIS! NOW HEAR THIS!
The USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum, in conjunction with the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) is proud to host the 3rd Annual Model Expo and Open Cockpit Day on Saturday October 24, 2020. Join us from 10 am-4 pm on for an incredible day of artistic achievement, family fun, and history aboard USS Hornet!
During the event, modelers from around the state will showcase their artistic skills in a friendly, yet spirited competition presided over by local IPMS judges. Youth and adults, amateurs and professionals alike are encouraged to enter. The Hornet is lucky enough to have a new chapter created just for us, IPMS Grey Ghost.
Competition categories set by IPMS Grey Ghost will be announced soon! Stay tuned!
Also onboard throughout the day will be a number of local and national vendors selling model kits, paints, tools, and all the supplies necessary to build your next amazing creation.
Interested in becoming a vendor? Email outreach@uss-hornet.org for more information.
Throughout the day, we will be raffling off prizes from local hobby shops, art supply stores, and neighboring businesses. Don’t forget to buy raffle tickets once you get onboard!
Take a seat in one of our cockpits and experience firsthand what it was like to be a fighter pilot! A number of our docents are ex-Navy pilots, and many will onboard to share their stories and lead tours of the ship.
