Ever wonder how an aircraft carrier works? Come aboard and spend the night living with history on the ultimate overnight adventure and find out how USS Hornet’s sailors lived and worked on this city at sea! Designed for ages 5 and up, this is a perfect group activity for scouts, youth groups, schools, friends, and families!
Hands-On STEAM Adventures: Exploring the Inner Workings of a WWII Aircraft Carrier
Embark on a thrilling journey into the world of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) as we delve into the fascinating inner workings of a WWII aircraft carrier. During the evening of tours, you will tour key areas of the ship to see various spaces and systems and discuss the history, science, and engineering behind them. As you move around the ship, you can participate in multiple hands-on science stations and demonstrations interspersed with seeing sailors’ living spaces! The experience includes:
- Sleeping in restored, original sailor sleeping compartments
- Enjoying Dinner and Breakfast in the original Enlisted Crew’s Mess
- Learning about this famous aircraft carrier’s daring exploits
- Touring key areas of the ship and the historic naval aircraft on display
- Learning about NASA’s Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 missions that put the first men on the moon
- Earning an overnight crew Patch & Certificate
- Ample Free Parking

All Overnight Guests must be at least 5 years old.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
· You will need an estimated headcount and a non-refundable $100 deposit is required at the time of registration.
· Your final headcount and remaining payment are not due until two weeks prior to the event date.
*Group Booking Note: If you are booking for a group but prefer families to register and pay individually, please email overnights@uss-hornet.org before registering to obtain the necessary discount code.
RATES:
· Individuals: $120 per person
· Groups (10+ people): $100 per person (Discount automatically applied at checkout)
· USS Hornet Museum Members:: $96 per person o Email your membership ID number to overnights@uss-hornet.org to secure your overnight rate. The discount rate applies only to the individuals covered under your membership level. For instance, a family membership grants the 20% discount to two adults and six children.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
· To cancel your reservation: a 50% refund will be issued to your original payment method. Please note that cancellations made within 72 hours of the event are non-refundable. Allow 3 to 7 business days for the processing of your refund from the date of your request.
· You may reschedule your reservation without penalty up to 72 hours prior to the event. Please note that no credit will be issued for cancellations made within this timeframe, including same-day cancellations or no-shows.
