Join a veteran Combat Information Center (CIC) Watch Officer for a tour of the operational spaces of the ship that partnered with each other to hunt and detect Soviet Submarines during the Cold War. On the tour, you will learn how the tactical combination of sea, air, and land assets combined to diminish the threat of Soviet Submarines.

– CIC ( Combat Information Center)
– ASCAC (Anti-Submarine Classification and Assessment Center)

The tour takes place the third Tuesday of every month and starts at 10 AM.

Jeff Manchester, Surface Warfare Officer
Ten years in the Navy and Naval Reserve, three years assigned to USS Kearsarge, CVS33 as a CIC Watch Officer and Division Officer. Kearsarge was Hornet’s immediate sister ship based in Long Beach, Ca. specifically designated to engage in Anti-Submarine warfare. Jeff’s CIC duties included the tactical coordination of the ships aircraft, attached destroyer group and occasional land based aircraft while prosecuting Soviet Submarines.
