July 23 (Thursday)

1800 – 2100 Special Members exhibit preview

  • Exhibit tours
  • Opportunity to purchase Buzz Aldrin book with “A” ticket for autograph
  • Viewing and Director Q&A of Apollo documentary (tentative)
  • Appetizers and cash bar

Must be a current USS Hornet Museum member to attend preview.

July 24 (Friday)

1800 – 2200 Apollo Crewmember Reception - formal opening of the Splashdown 09 festival

  • Chance to mingle with Hornet crewmembers who were on board for Apollo 11
  • Performance by the “Singing Blue Stars
  • Opportunity to purchase Buzz Aldrin's book with “A” ticket for autograph
  • Appetizers and cash bar

General Admission, $20 advance; Crew Members and Spouses are free

July 25 (Saturday, Museum Hours)

1000 – 1700 Museum open normal hours – special event prices apply

  • Special Apollo and Space Exhibits
  • Special Apollo 11 on-board locations tour
  • Authors booksigning corner:

    Bob Fish – “Hornet Plus Three”
    Don Blair – “NASA and the Navy”
    Mabel Armstrong – “Women Astronomers”
    Lee Meredith – “Grey Ghost” (tentative)

  • Partner tables with interactive activities including:

    Chabot Space Center interactive spacesuit demo
    W Foundation space artifact interactive table
    LUNAR model rocketry table
    AstroWizard interactive kid’s astronomy teacher
    Many more

1300 - 1400 Public Presentation featuring Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 moonwalker

1430 – 1700 Booksigning opportunity with Buzz – “Magnificent Desolation”

  • “A” tickets: Guests who purchase Buzz’ book on Thursday and Friday evening will have an opportunity to get their books signed by Buzz during the first hour. “A tickets” are available with books purchased during the Friday night reception.

NOTE: Buzz will not be signing any other items.

Adults & Teens, $20 advance; Museum Members $20; Children 12 and under are free

July 25 (Saturday, Evening)

1830 – 2130 Fundraising Dinner

  • Featuring Helo 66 co-pilot Bruce Johnson and UDT Capsule Frogman Clancy Hatleberg
  • Performance by “Singing Blue Stars
  • Presentations by Apollo 11 Recovery key personnel

General Seating, $100 advance; Museum Members & Former Crew $85 advance

July 26 (Sunday)

1000 – 1700 Museum open normal hours, regular admission applies

  • Special Apollo and Space Exhibits
  • Special Apollo 11 on-board locations tours
  • Authors booksigning corner:
